Celecoxib is an FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved medicine used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, injury-caused short-term pain, and menstrual pain. Celecoxib works by blocking prostaglandins (cyclooxygenase 2) forming enzyme, which results in the lower concentrations of chemicals – prostaglandins (the main contributor to arthritis inflammation causing fever, tenderness, and swelling). This medicine only reduces the signs & symptoms of arthritis, not the development of either kind of arthritis.
