Finpecia 5 mg is a film-coated medicine containing 5 mg Finasteride as its main active ingredient, which is useful to reverse the balding process in men. This tablet is used to relieve the symptoms of symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) even it also reduces the possibility of surgery. It is also used for the treatment of male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia). Regular and adequate use of this tablet increases the hair growth in men and also stops further hair loss from the scalp.

Finasteride, commercially known as Proscar or Propecia, is a white crystalline powder with a melting point of almost 250°C. The Proscar medications, available for oral consumption are film-coated tablets with 5 mg of finasteride and many more inactive ingredients such as magnesium stearate, yellow iron oxide, microcrystalline cellulose, methylcellulose, FD&C Blue 2 Aluminum Lake, sodium starch glycolate, Docusate sodium, pregelatinized starch, titanium dioxide, hydroxypropyl cellulose LF, hydrous lactose, and talc.
